There is a brief pause after the line connects and Velocity says, "Hello?" You could be forgiven for thinking she'd actually answered before she continues on in a more subdued tone than the message she'd made upon first arriving onboard the ship. "I'm terribly sorry, but I missed your call. If you're asking after my office hours to schedule an appointment, please leave your name and contact details and availability in just a second. Otherwise, I..." A pause, then, "Thank you for taking the time to call me."

We can work together on one if you can handle my sense of artsy style bein' about as good as a brick. Y'know, just for fun. Doesn't have to be for anyone.

[ah-- work talk. he feels guiltily happy when it switches to this, because he doesn't know how to do any of the other stuff. how to talk about anything but work. ratchet rather suspects velocity feels much the same.]

Ah-- I can share some of my own data on those. You gotta be careful, especially if you start dippin' into weapon systems. There's a failsafe there that'll, uh- [he cringes momentarily before he regains control of his expression.] -hurt 'em. You thought about making a whole new load of original stickers? Hows your drawin' after all the anatomy practice? I still get everything lopsided...

Velocity beamed. "That would be really super fun! I like working with you on anything, and art stuff ought to be! Super really fun!"

She then shuttered her optics, mouth parting a bit. "That's good to know about, at least, right? Then we can compensate for it." She stared to ask him to elaborate, but the swift change in topics had her pause and cough into her hand.

"Right. But oh! But! But! I know how to help with this one! Two thing, right? The first one is lightly tracing a grid on your paper --this part you'll like, I know you like right angles-- and you then make a border you can hold up in the shape of a square, and you use it to sight down whatever you're drawing from life so it fits within the grid. It's supposed to help keep things to scale. Neat, right?"

Quietly: "I love right angles..."

He considers this concept for a few moments, then takes his personal datapad out and quickly opens the drawing app with a grid preselected on it. Ratchet does a quick, simple drawing of Velocity's face with a silly expression and beams delightedly. He turns it around for her to see.

"You're right!" This is a revelation. "I can't believe I never thought of this before!"

Velocity beams, just that little bit more at ease now that she's made Ratchet happy. "I picked that one up from Nautica back back home, she was always telling me things like that. Wait till you get me talking about some of the other things she told me, like how a lot of artists who work with super duper small details work between beats of their fuel pumps like snipers do. It's so interesting!"
